On 1 October, 100 elderly people from the Lisbon area had a rather different day.
The day looked promising: a bright sun, warm weather and a full schedule.
To start, a sightseeing trip around the centre of the city in a Cityrama open top bus. Then another trip - this time on the River Tagus in the boat “Príncipe Perfeito” and in the company of Júlio Isidro.
It was soon time for lunch and time to head to the Tivoli Oriente, in Parque das Nações, where the Portuguese First Lady Maria Cavaco Silva, who together with Júlio Isidro and Carmen Dolores gave some great talks on old age, pursuing the theme that it is a time of wisdom and experience and that now was the time to pass these skills onto younger generations.
After an excellent lunch, there was a fun draw with fantastic prizes, including a weekend at a 4 star Tivoli. At the end there was even time for a few dance steps to the sound of BESclore.
It was a great day and a great tonic for some elderly people living alone. Unfortunately, all over the world many people live on their own and are often forgotten …
